Monique Coleman had previously trained with Rich and Helene Guzman of the LA Rox Gym to prepare for the four-mile running Nautica Malibu Triathlon. The coaches focused on getting them under the eight-minute routine. She trained 90 minutes 3-4 times a week. Her exercise routine included 4 miles of treadmill running alternated with a half-mile incline walk, stretching, strength training and core training. She went swimming and lifted weights twice a week.

A fitness freak, Monique works out regularly and usually goes spinning, running and hiking. She also believes in eating healthy and incorporating greens into her diet.
