Square-jawed, he had the ideal look to play a military man on screen. Mitchell Ryan, actor of titles such as “Lethal Weapon” or “Harry the Strong”, has died in Los Angeles, at 88 years of age.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on January 11, 1934, Mitchell Ryan served in the Army during the Korean War. Assigned to the Entertainment division, to put on shows that would help boost the morale of the troops, he discovered that he had a knack for acting.

Returning to civilian life, he appeared in numerous plays, before breaking out with the series Dark Shadows , where he played Burke Devlin, an ex-con on a vengeance drive. However, Mitchell Ryan began to have problems with alcohol, which led to his being fired from fiction.

Mitchell Ryan next took a supporting role in Strong Harry , where he played a motorcycle patrolman, a friend of Clint Eastwood ‘s character . In Lethal Weapon  he was a soldier. He also participated as a secondary in titles like Compulsive Liar or Judge Dredd .

Divorced in 1982 from Lynda Morse, mother of his first child, Mitchell Ryan joined Barbara Albertine, with whom he had two other offspring.
