Born in Kalispell, Montana, on July 6, 1982, Misty Ann Upham was a member of the Blackfoot tribe. At the age of 13, she joined Red Eagle Soaring, a theater group, as a way to earn a little money during the summer, but she ended up combining her studies in high school with her work as an actress.

He began in the cinema with Skins , where he played a victim of domestic abuse. But she especially stood out helping Melissa Leo smuggle immigrants in Frozen River . After appearing very briefly in Django Unchained she had played Meryl Streep ‘s housekeeper in August . Two weeks before her death, her family reported her disappearance.

In addition to working as an interpreter, Upham was a prolific activist for Native American rights and against voluntary termination of pregnancy.
