Mike Williams Facts

  1. He comes from a musical family and both of his parents play the piano.
  2. Mike started taking piano lessons at the age of 4 and was pretty good at it by the age of 6.
  3. While taking piano lessons, he had early learned the ability to see, which meant he could play a piece while reading the notation for it.
  4. Shortly after learning piano, Mike decided to quit taking lessons and create and play his own songs using a laptop and an amp he bought with savings and his father’s speakers.
  5. Mike produced his first dance track as a DJ when he was 12 years old.
  6. At the age of 14, Mike was DJing at a 500-person club, after which he was booked by the owner for more gigs.
  7. He began his career with self-made bootlegs he posted on SoundCloud, such as Carly Rae Jepsen’s I Really Like You .
  8. His debut single Konnichiwa was actually his friend’s idea. The track reminded them both of Japan and was also the only word Mike knew in Japanese.
  9. He is fluent in Dutch and English and speaks a little Spanish.
  10. According to him, one thing about him that surprises a lot of people is that he’s played volleyball for a very long time.
  11. Mike was named an “artist of the future” by his record label Spinnin’ Records .
  12. Along with 3 other Dutch DJs, Brooks, Mesto and Justin Mylo, he was considered to be one of the pioneers of the Future Bounce genre, which was a subgenre of the Future House genre.
  13. He considers Tiesto and Armin van Buuren to be the most influential DJs since they started the whole movement and popularization of the genre “Dance” and “EDM”.
  14. Mike claimed that Oliver Heldens is something of a personal therapist because he always gives him good tips on how to stay relaxed. He told him not to look for individuals in the crowd and go with the flow.
  15. On January 5, 2017 as part of the weekend program of the Dutch radio station SUMP! he started his own radio show entitled Mike Williams on the right track , which has also been uploaded in full to his YouTube channel and other popular audio streaming platforms.
  16. According to him, the key to success in the industry is to get all your music online. The more plays/streams the track gets, the more interested the record label is in an artist, he added.
  17. He prefers to produce in his bedroom in the Netherlands, which isn’t big at all because he only needs to attach a monitor and a laptop.
  18. His laptop was stolen from his apartment in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in March 2017 after a thief broke in while he was sleeping. Since it was his lifetime achievement as a producer, Mike offered a $2,000 reward but never clarified if he got it back.
  19. Mike traveled the world in 2017 playing festivals and events such as Miami Music Week , Morgenland , Parookaville , Mysteryland , Creamfields , and Heartfeldt Pool Party .
  20. In 2017, he was voted number 60 on DJ Mag’s “Top 100” list, which counted reader votes to make the decision. At the same time, Mike landed at number 66 on the DJ Mag list in 2018 after all votes were counted.
  21. There was a rumor in July 2018 that DJ Hardwell was dating his sister Michelle, but it was never confirmed or denied.
