Mike Mictlan is an American rapper best known for his solo albums released since 2005 and is part of the group Doomtree and a hip hop duo Die Mercenaries alongside rapper Mnemonic. He met the members of his rap group Doomtree , Paper Tiger, MK Larada, POS, and Lazerbeak in high school. They began a series of 15 releases called False Hopes in 2005 but without the help of recording labels. Mictlan’s first album was named False Hopes Eight: Deity for Recruitment and was released in 2005. His second followed 2 years later in 2007 when he released the albumThe first chapter as part of a duo Die Söldner under Top Nation Records etiquette.

In September 2012, Mike released a mixtape called Snaxxx for free on his Bandcamp page, dedicated to fans of his music. His 10-song LP album followed after a two-year hiatus from recording and was named Hella Frreal . In 2015, he was featured on the Doomtree album by the rap group All Hands , after which he performed both as a solo artist and as a group member on a tour of the United States.

Mike Mictlan Facts

1. His stage name Mictlan is pronounced as “meek turf”.
2. Mike’s mother was in prison for most of his childhood.
3. At the age of eleven, he dreamed of becoming a full-time hip-hop artist.
4. Before he could pursue his dreams of being a rapper, he had to do a variety of jobs to survive, including being a butcher.
5. Mike’s first public musical appearance wasn’t actually on his own album. He collaborated with POS, a Doomtree group member, on his rap group Kenospecies album Uncertainty . Since Mike was not in Minneapolis at the time, his voice was recorded over the phone.
6. In 2013, Mike had to stay in a mental health ward because of a drug problem.
7. Grant Rozmarin, known as Recognize Monster on YouTube, committed suicide in July 2018. He and Mike were great friends and he even credits Grant with giving him a place to live and save his life.
8. Mike’s daughter Bazqui loves the Star Trek franchise and her favorite action figure is Worf.
9. His father suffered from cancer when Mike was ateen, which meant he had to live with his uncle in Los Angeles, California. His father eventually struck cancer, but suffered from it again later in life. Luckily, Mike announced that in October 2016 his father had been diagnosed with cancer for the second time and had survived a liver transplant and a viral infection with hepatitis C.
10. Mike himself went through a tough time in 2017 after doctors diagnosed him with DKA (Diabetic Ketoacidosis) after suffering from untreated, unknown diabetes for several months. He didn’t have health insurance, so he and his then-fiancé turned to GoFundMe to help cover medical bills. The community came together and reached the goal of $10,000 in just 10 hours. This allowed Mike to get the disease under control quickly.
