He seems to have made a pact with the devil, like his character in Fausto 5.0 , to become one of the best actors filming in Spanish today. Miguel Ángel Solá has given great joy to both Spanish and Argentine cinema, although in reality he is much more drawn to theater.

Born in the capital of Argentina, on May 14, 1950, Miguel Ángel Solá sinks his roots into show business, as his mother and aunt, Paquita and Luisa Vehil, are established actresses in Argentina. Apparently, his family has been involved in the theater for many generations. Solá’s sister, Mónica Vehil, is also an actress.

Miguel Ángel Solá began at the age of 20 in the Argentine independent theater with the play “La noche de los ratones crueles”. He made his film debut with a small role in the drama Más allá del sol , by Hugo Fregonese . In 1976, he became a celebrity in his country by starring in the Argentine version of “Equus” by Peter Shaffer , which ran for several seasons, and was later revived in 1983.

Although he continued to focus above all on theater, in cinema he took part in films such as No habrá más penas ni olvido , together with Federico Luppi , or El lado oscuro del corazón , with Darío Grandinetti .

Divorced from the actress Susú Pecoraro ( Camila ), he ended up together with another Spanish interpreter, Blanca Oteyza, who radically changed his life. He decided to follow her and establish her residence in Spain. Both have had two daughters, Camila and Cayetana.

He starred in the Spanish-Argentine film Tango , by Carlos Saura , where he was a privileged dancer. He was a policeman in search of a dangerous psychopath, in Plenilunio –based on a novel by Antonio Muñoz Molina– and then he starred in I know who you are , by Patricia Ferreira . There, he carried out a memorable interpretation of a patient with Korsakov Syndrome, who fell in love again with the director of the clinic ( Ana Fernández ) every time she saw her again, because due to her illness she continually forgot her. . He made a pact with the devil as the protagonist of Faust 5.0, where he embodied a modern version of the famous character. She has also appeared in other Spanish films such as La playa de los galgos and El alquimista impatiente . She has been especially successful on television, with titles like Lobos , UCO and Desaparecida .

He has not neglected filmmakers from his country, such as Eduardo Mignogna , who directed him in La fuga , where he was a con man escaping from jail, and Luis Puenzo , responsible for La puta y la ballena .

He appeared with his beloved Blanca Oteyza in the film Octavia , by Basilio Martín Patino , and also in the ensemble film Tiovivo c. 1950 , by José Luis Garci . They both launched an extensive theatrical tour with Mark Twain ‘s “The Diary of Adam and Eve,” which she swept, thanks to word of mouth.

A fatal accident on a beach in Gran Canaria caused him a spinal cord injury. He had moved there to act in the theater when he decided to bathe in the sea. “We were about to leave and he decided to go in, with the bad luck that the tide turned. I was reading when suddenly a huge wave swallowed him, that’s why I didn’t realize it until the people began to shout: ‘A drowned man! A drowned man! Call the Red Cross!’ At that moment, I saw that four boys were pulling it out of the water. In a second, a five meter wave had thrown him against the bottom, leaving him paralyzed”, explained Blanca Oteyza. He only managed to recover after a long period of convalescence.

Back in shape, he has returned to the theater with Oteyza in “For the pleasure of seeing her again”. In addition, she has played a stalker who makes life miserable for Leonardo Sbaraglia ‘s character in The Night Runner .
