Screenwriter Michael France was behind the scripts for superhero movies like “Hulk” – Ang Lee’s version – and various action titles. France passed away on Friday, April 12, at the age of 51, as a result of a long illness. His sister, Suzanne France, broke the news in the Tampa Bay Times newspaper. “Although he had been retired for some time, he was planning to write again,” the deceased’s sister said.

Michael France made his way into the Hollywood scene when he sold the script for the mountain movie Maximum Risk , directed by Renny Harlin , with Sylvester Stallone , and which became a great success in 1993. For this reason, this graduate by the University of Florida, he was required by the big industry for four other big-budget productions. First of all, he was hired to write GoldenEye , which was a dream come true for him, since he was a big fan of James Bond from a very young age, and he even wrote a fanzine dedicated to the character.

Subsequently, he appears credited as the author of the story on which the Hulk is based , an adaptation of the famous Marvel character, directed by Ang Lee in 2003. He dabbled in characters from the publisher two other times, in The Punisher and The Fantastic Four . Later he retired, and bought an abandoned movie theater in St. Pete Beach, Florida, where he lived. He intended to reopen the store if his health improved.
