Who is Oliver Khan?
Oliver Khan is a german goalkeeper and arguably the craziest Football player in history, he was recorded as the Best goalkeeper in the history of the game for so many years but is popularly remembered for his crazy moments.
One of such moments was when he was asked to partake in a penalty shootout against a group of nine-year-olds. It was all in aid of charity, and money was to be donated for every goal scored by nine-year-olds
The crazy goalie couldn’t allow himself to be beaten, even for charity so he saved all the penalties against the 9-year-olds in the charity shootout.
Crazy right?
How crazy is Oliver Khan?
Oliver Khan once stated in an interview with Bundelisga official that “goalkeepers need an element of insanity”. He noted that his body language often instills respect and fear in the minds of the opponents thereby giving them an edge.
He said: “I often use my body language to show my team ‘complete presence’ – and to instill respect, or even better fear, in my opponents, Goalkeepers need an element of insanity. Who else would stand there and allow people to shoot balls at their face or stomach, and still think it’s great?”
The Bayern Munich legend who possessed a win at all costs mentality regularly shouted and lashed out at his teammates pushing them to succeed in the game
His crazy attitude paid off and earned him the nickname ‘Der Titan’. Throughout his career, Oliver Kahn won eight Bundesliga titles, six DFP-Pokals, and one Champions League, before retiring from the game in 2008.
