He swept “Bat Out of Hell” and the rest of his music albums, but he also found time to pursue acting, in stage musicals and movies like “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and “Fight Club.” The American Meat Loaf died on January 20, 2022 at the age of 74, as confirmed by his agent, accompanied by Deborah, his wife. “We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all the love and support as we mourn the loss of such an  inspiring artist and beautiful man,” Meat Loaf’s family said in a statement. . “From your heart to your souls…never stop rocking!”

Born in Dallas (Texas), on September 27, 1947, Marvin Lee Aday – real name of Meat Loaf – was the first child of Wilma Artie, a schoolteacher and member of a gospel quartet, and Orvis Wesley Artie, an agent for policeman, with alcohol problems, who had to be found in all the bars in the city to take him home. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, where he got his start as an actor in school plays, and was nicknamed “Meatloaf” by his coach, because of his excessive weight.After attending Lubbock Christian College he enrolled in the University of North Texas. He later moved to Los Angeles, where he formed his first group, Meat Loaf Soul, with which he was not very successful.

After joining the cast of the musical “Hair” in Los Angeles –and later on Broadway–, he began to make a name for himself, apart from the prestigious Motown record company. They suggested that she perform a duet with singer Shaun “Stoney” Murphy, who had accompanied him on the hit show. During the winter of 1973 Meat Loaf headlined the cast of the musical  The Rocky Horror Show , and reprized his role as Eddie in the film version, titled  The Rocky Horror Picture Show .

As a musician, he achieved enormous acceptance with the album “Bat Out of Hell”. In the 1980s he began a series of massive tours. Meat Loaf  lavished himself in the cinema from the 90s, with titles like  Wayne’s World: what a spread! ,  A world to suit you ,  Gunshy  and  Crazy in Alabama , directed by the Spanish Antonio Banderas . But moviegoers will remember Meat Loaf  as Robert Paulsen, who was part of the testicular cancer support group attended by Edward Norton ‘s character , in  Fight Club . “ Working with David FincherIt helped me a lot”, he explained in an interview. “I got things that I had never done before, that I didn’t know I could do. He told me that he probably had 9 ways to do each thing, but that he was going to learn more. Now I know 40 different ways to make the same tick in a movie.”

Divorced from Leslie G. Edmons –mother of his daughter Amanda Lee Aday, an actress–,  Meat Loaf  joined Deborah Gillespie in 2007. In his last years of life, the artist lavished himself as a luxury guest in films such as  Crossroads ( 2005) ,  BloodRayne ,  Chasing Ghosts  or  Desire and Hope .
