Max Holloway has a varied and grueling training regime in place to keep him at the top of his game. He regularly goes to the gym to improve his fitness and endurance. To improve his cardiovascular capacity, he regularly does cardio exercises to take it to the next level.

For example, he attaches a harness to his body during breaks in running on the treadmill. He also adds functional exercises to improve his natural strength. Last but not least, the boxing and sparring sessions are an essential part of his training schedule.

He usually relies on the guidance of his tactics, strength and conditioning under trainer Darin Yap for his strength training. He also trains at Gracie Technics Honolulu and Legacy Muay Thai for his regular combat training.

He’s also hired a nutritionist to help him recover as best as possible before his fights. His nutritionist, Tyler, usually accompanies him for the last 4 weeks of his camp. It helps him just focus on his preparation while Tyler takes care of his nutrition and recovery. His daily diet plan during this time is as follows:

  • Pre- Training Meal – This meal usually depends on the nature of his training. When planning a harder workout, he goes for a high-carb meal. Otherwise, he prefers a high protein content in the meal.
  • Lunch and Dinner – He likes high protein food for both meals. That’s why he prefers to eat a fish or a 90 percent lean steak with potatoes for lunch or dinner.
  • Post- workout workout – He usually relies on his specialty protein shakes to fuel up after an intense workout.
