Maura Tierney Biography

Maura Therese Tierney is an American actress who acts both on television and in movies. She was born one of three children to her mother Pat Tierney, who works as a real estate agent, and her father Joseph M. Tierney, who was a prominent Boston politician, has since died. Her brother Deidre has a recording studio in Los Angeles and another, Brian, also works in movies. She grew up in Massachusetts, Boston, she lived in nearby Hyde Park and spent her childhood with friends and family. With all three children going to the same school, they had friends in common and Maura after her father’s death was very close to her mother. She, like the rest of her family, follows Christianity and belongs to the white ethnic group. Born and raised in the United States, she is an American by nationality.

As a child, she attended the Notre Dame Academy , located in Hingham. She studied theater at her school and also practiced it with the school theater team. She was described as a bright and talented child both in her curricular studies and outside of class. She represented her school in various drama programs and also performed at the Boston Globe Drama Festival. Upon graduating, she did theater for a while, which she says is a special and different platform. She joined New York University later and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, her forte being theater and dance as well. She acted in a few local theaters before landing some major roles in her career. She also trained for some time at theCircle in the School of Theater Square.
