Matthew vaughn

The English director, writer and producer Matthew Vaughn was born on March 7, 1971 in London. His childhood was somewhat strange and traumatic since his father, Robert Vaughn, from whom he adopted his stage name, rejected him as his son. It was eventually discovered that his real father was a British aristocrat known as George De Vere Drummond. Matthew spent his teaching years at Buckingham’s Stowe School. When he finished, he decided to take a year traveling the world on a tour organized by the Hard Rock Café, whose end was the city of Los Angeles. His love for cinema was beginning to awaken and Vaughn tried out there as an assistant director before returning to England. After thinking about it severely, he decided to return to Hollywood and harden himself in the industry.

His career began not as a director, but as a producer for his great friend, the English director Guy Ritchie . Lock & Stock and Snatch. Pigs and Diamonds were the two feature films whose great profitability gave him the opportunity to get behind the camera with his debut: Layer Cake (2004). His debut garnered some very good reviews: it is a film about mafias, crime and drugs with an elaborate script and a very careful aesthetic. Just three years later he released Stardust , a production with a bigger budget that featured actors such as Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer .. It is an imaginative fantastic tale with magical worlds and supernatural beings.

In 2010, he reinvented the superhero genre with the fun Kick-Ass. Ready to dunk , mix between thug comedy, comic and action. The film is entertaining thanks to its good pacing and frenetic action sequences. With this production, Matthew began to stamp his personal stamp. The sudden success of the feature film gave him the opportunity to take command of X-Men: First Class , a new adaptation of Marvel’s heroes. Both the public and critics liked it again thanks to its resemblance to the spy genre and a successful script very well led by stars like Michael Fassbender . It quickly became one of the best-rated installments in the saga.

In 2014 he surprised again with Kingsman. Secret Service , an 18-carat pastime that entertains even the most skeptical with its energy, its tribute to the spy genre, its black humor and especially its wild and violent action sequences. Vaughn thus gave a new vision of the classic English spy, without much depth of characters, but that amazes and allows you to enjoy a pleasant time.

Matthew has been married since 2002 to former model  Claudia Schiffer , mother of his two children: Caspar and Clementine.
