Matthew Michael Hasselbeck, better known as Matt Hasselbeck, is a former American football quarterback and current analyst for ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown. Matt’s nationality is American and he belongs to the white ethnicity.

Early age and education

Matt Hasselbeck was born on September 25, 1975, to his mother, Marybeth, and father, Don Hasselbeck, who is a former tight end for the New England Patriots. Matt has two younger brothers, Tim and Nathanael.

 

Hasselbeck was raised in Norfolk, Massachusetts along with his two younger brothers. He attended Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood. He was also selected as an honorable mention All-American by the USA . today as a high school senior. He really liked soccer from a very young age. Matt was struck by lightning twice when he was little.

Hasselbeck joined Boston College near his family’s hometown and played for the Boston College Eagle football team from 1994 to 1997, including his younger brother Tim, who played for two years. Later Hasselbeck college career as starting quarterback thinking his brother Tim will keep Matt’s job with the Eagles. Matt graduated with a degree in marketing.

Matt Hasselbeck was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round of the 1998 NFL Draft, where he joined the team’s practice squad in 1998 and acted as a backup to starting quarterback Brett Favre.

 

Later in 2001, Matt Hasselbeck joined former head coach Mike Holmgren and the Seattle Seahawks. The Packers traded Matt, along with his first draft pick to the Seahawks for their first and third round picks. After a strong final struggle in 2002. Hasselbeck entered as a mystery starter in 2003. Hasselbeck started all 16 games, amazingly leading Seattle to a 10-6 record for the first time since 1998 and a wild card spot as well. Matt was also selected for the Pro Bowl.

In 2004 Hasselbeck won the 2004 NFL Quarterback Challenge. He also led Seattle to its first NFC West title since the realignment in 2002. Also in 2005, Hasselbeck had one of the most productive performances of his career as he earned the highest passer rating in the NFC.

Matt Hasselbeck met the love of his life Sarah Egnaczyk, who was an All-American field hockey goalie at BC during her college life. Both Matt and Sarah were 17 years old when they first met during their college lives

 

Since they met, they subsequently began dating as boyfriend and girlfriend. The couple lead a happy married life together till now. Matt and Sarah were married on June 17, 2000. They have three children together, two daughters, Anabelle Hasselbeck and Mallory Hasselbeck, and a son, Henry Hasselbeck. Anabelle was born in 2002, Mallory in 2003, and Henry in 2005.
