Matt Damon

He is an actor, although his big step in Hollywood was when he won the Oscar for Best Screenplay for Good Will Hunting .

Matt Damon and his good friend Ben Affleck wrote the script for Good Will Hunting (1997) to find work. The result was an Oscar and a Golden Globe, which jump-started his acting career. Until then, Matt Damon had been secondary in films like Private School (1992) or Geronimo, a legend (1993). Those were years that revealed a constant in his career: working under the orders of recognized directors of the moment. Thus Edward Zwick counted on him for In honor of the truth (1996) and Francis Ford Coppola would give him his first leading role in the judicial drama Legitimate defense(1997). Nine years later he was a great friend of Coppola’s, Martin Scorsese , who cast him as a co-star in The Departed . He was 27 years old when the young man from Massachusetts wrote and starred in Handsome… , where he gave life to a gifted boy with limited financial resources. Gus Van Sant directed the project and five years later wrote the screenplay for Gerry with him , the only time he has returned to repeat in this field. However, Damon claims that he would love to rewrite a movie script with Affleck, and if they haven’t done so yet it’s due to lack of time, since the two have quite a lot of work as actors.

It is true, work has not been lacking. Having the Oscar under his arm, Steven Spielberg chose him to participate in his war tape Saving Private Ryan (1998). He played the assassin created by Patricia Highsmith in The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) and was cast by some of his fellow directors. Thus, he starred in the golf drama The Legend of Bagger Vance (2000) directed by Robert Redford , All the Beautiful Horses (2000), by Billy Bob Thornton , Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002), by George Clooney or the recentThe Good Shepherd (2006), by Robert de Niro . In his career there has also been room for trilogies, such as Ocean’s , directed by Steven Soderbergh . And, of course, the Bourne trilogy, where he played the forgetful agent Jason Bourne. The latest installment of this saga that mixes action and thriller hits theaters this summer, time to find out if The Bourne Ultimatum returns the secret agent’s memory. A memory that Matt Damon agrees not to lose, since his past is enough to remember.
