Matawelle swears by Quran- I've no connection with the Bandits

The Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawelle, has sworn by the Holy Quran, that he has no connection with the bandits terrorizing the State.

Matawelle, On Sunday, while speaking during an award event organised by the Centre for Quranic Reciter, Nigeria, asked politicians in the state not to politicise the issue of insecurity.

The Governor also asked the Zamfara people to swear if they had no connections with the bandits, he asked while receiving the award conferred to him by the state.

The governor said the reason is that it will be easy for residents to identify those behind insecurity and ensure peace is restored in the state.

Furthermore, Matallewe said, that is important for the residents to go on with their lawful business without having fear of anyone hurting them, adding that he will try his possible best in providing a secure environment, as the chief security of the state

He said: “As I’ve been mentioning, the issue of insecurity is not just for the federal government, governor or other security agencies; the issue of insecurity is for all of us, and we should not politicise the issue of insecurity.

“I have sworn with the Holy Qur’an that if I know, or if I am part of, or I know anybody who is coordinating this banditry, or with my hand or any of my family, may Allah not give me in this life.
