Mary Murphy is especially remembered for playing the title role of  The Wild One , opposite Marlon Brando. The actress died on May 4, 2011 at her home in Beverly Hills, as a result of cardiac arrest.

Born on January 26, 1931, in the US capital, Mary Murphy worked wrapping packages when she was discovered by a Paramount talent scout, who offered her a contract.

He started as an extra in titles like  When Worlds Collide  and  Caravan of Women . But she mostly turned heads as the cop’s daughter who is targeted by a biker gang leader ( Marlon Brando ), in  The Savage .

Despite the tremendous success of the film, Mary Murphy never became a star. She at least she didn’t stop working. She was the daughter of Fredric March in  Desperate Hours , by William Wyler , who also directed her in  Carrie (1952) . She played Steve McQueen ‘s sister-in-law in  Junior Bonner . She also appeared in numerous series such as  Ironside , until she retired in the mid ’70s.

The actress had a daughter, the result of her marriage to a businessman.
