Mary Murphy
Mary Murphy is especially remembered for playing the title role of The Wild One , opposite Marlon Brando. The actress died on May 4, 2011 at her home in Beverly Hills, as a result of cardiac arrest.
Born on January 26, 1931, in the US capital, Mary Murphy worked wrapping packages when she was discovered by a Paramount talent scout, who offered her a contract.
He started as an extra in titles like When Worlds Collide and Caravan of Women . But she mostly turned heads as the cop’s daughter who is targeted by a biker gang leader ( Marlon Brando ), in The Savage .
Despite the tremendous success of the film, Mary Murphy never became a star. She at least she didn’t stop working. She was the daughter of Fredric March in Desperate Hours , by William Wyler , who also directed her in Carrie (1952) . She played Steve McQueen ‘s sister-in-law in Junior Bonner . She also appeared in numerous series such as Ironside , until she retired in the mid ’70s.
The actress had a daughter, the result of her marriage to a businessman.
