She took her first steps as an actress in a brief role in the series Cheers . Next she was Mrs. Walsh, mother of Mikey ( Sean Astin ) and Brand ( Josh Brolin ) in Richard Donner ‘s The Goonies , which also gave her a small role in The Ghosts Attack the Boss and made her the psychiatrist of Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon and all its continuations.
In Die Hard , she played the television reporter Gail Wallens, a role she repeated – with no possible explanation – in Ricochet . She was also the mother of a boy in Ghostbusters II , a scientist wowed by a talking gorilla in Frank Marshall ‘s Congo , and the mother of witty sitcom protagonist Parker Lewis Never Loses .
