Marujita Diaz
Marujita Díaz died on June 23, 2015 at the age of 83. The tonadillera triumphed as the protagonist of various films in the 50s, when she was considered one of the greats, with Lola Flores and Carmen Sevilla.
Born on April 27, 1932 in the Triana neighborhood of Seville, María del Dulce Nombre Díaz Ruiz made her theater debut at the age of six. At 16 she shot her first film, The Cicada , alongside Tony Leblanc . The interpreter became very popular with songs like “Soldadito español” or “Banderita”, and she starred in hugely popular movies like La casta Susana and La Cumparsita .
After marrying Espartaco Santoni , both created a film production company. After her divorce, she was together with the dancer Antonio Gades , and the controversial Cuban Dinio, who became very popular on the sets of pink information.
Marujita Díaz retired from acting in 1993, after appearing as a secondary in several episodes of the television series Truhanes , based on the film of the same name.
