martin milner
His career focused mainly on television, where there are hundreds of episodes in which he took part, in series as popular as “Route 66”, “Dragnet” and “Area 12”. Martin Milner has died at age 83, and is survived by his wife of life (almost 60 years of marriage), Judith Bess Jones, and three of his four children, the fourth dying of leukemia a decade ago.
Martin Milner carried the blood of “show business” in his veins, since his father was a film distributor, and his mother was a dancer on the Paramount Theater circuit. Although born in Detroit, Martin moved with his family as a child to Los Angeles. The boy had to point out acting ways, because at the age of 15 his father got him an agent and he already had a small role in Recursos de mujer , Elizabeth Taylor ‘s film at Warner, which had Michael Curtiz as director. He soon attached himself to several war films, and worked with John Wayne on Bloody Sands and The Silent Fleet .; his association with these tapes made it easier for him to work for the military on training films.
But in cinema his key year was 1957, where he worked twice with Burt Lancaster in the western about Wyatt Earp Duel of the Titans –he was his brother James– and in the theater drama Blackmail on Broadway . For William Castle he made a horror film, 13 Ghosts , and was also in the cloying Valley of the Dolls .
But just as in all the titles mentioned, his roles took up a few minutes of footage, on television he was able to expand at ease, especially on Route 66 , where he was one of the protagonists who travels that mythical route by car. He has also acted in Dragnet , Area 12 and Colombo .
