“Marriage, PhD, or Pack Out!” — Kanayo O. Kanayo 

Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has stirred reactions online after celebrating his daughter’s 25th birthday with a mix of heartfelt wishes and a firm ultimatum about her future.

Taking to his social media page, the legendary actor penned an emotional message to his daughter, Valerie, fondly called Uloaku — meaning “house of wealth” — while also drawing a clear line on what he expects from her before she turns 27.

According to Kanayo, by the time she clocks 27, she must either be married, pursuing a PhD, or prepared to move out of his house. “In all these, please ensure that before 2027, you are either walking down the aisle, going for your PhD, or walking out of my house. Simpliciter,” he wrote.

In a reflective tone, Kanayo also recalled how Valerie used to challenge him over his frequent absence from home due to movie shoots. However, he noted that his busy schedule is a mark of professional relevance in the film industry.

“Your issue with me has always been that I’m always traveling. But good actors are always on the move because they are always hired. Thank God I’m still active and relevant,” he said.

He encouraged his daughter to use the occasion as a moment of sober reflection — to identify things to copy, paste, and delete from her life as she steps into a new phase of adulthood.

Kanayo ended his message with blessings, wishing her divine favor in all her endeavors.
