MARNIE THE DOG | MARNIE THE DOG STORY
Marnie the Dog , born October 26, 2001, was a dog influencer who became known for her hanging tongue and celebrity appearances. It belonged to Shirley Braha and Marnie had amassed all of the following, with 1.8 million followers on Instagram. In the last two months of her life, Marnie’s subscriber count increased fivefold. Marnie’s Twitter account has over 115,000 followers. Braha has also posted short Marnie on Vine videos.
Marnie was a street dog living in Connecticut. In August 2012, Marnie was moved to an animal shelter by animal control and nicknamed Stinky due to her pungent smell from living on the streets. She had health issues, such as decayed teeth, partial visual impairment in her left eye, and partial hearing impairment before Marnie’s adoption. Although Marnie’s decayed teeth were removed and her vision gradually recovered, her hearing impairment persisted. Marnie’s head was permanently tilted to the left (a feature for which she stood out), possibly due to a briefcase of vestibular disease. His hearing loss was also a likely effect of the disease. Marnie’s tongue was usually sticking out of her mouth,
Four months later, Braha found Marnie through Petfinder, an adoption website. She then adopted her and moved her to New York. Braha was informed of Marnie’s various health issues; Braha, in light of her health issues, did not expect Marnie to survive more than two weeks. Braha said that by transferring her by rail, she had “stinked the whole train”

MARNIE THE DEAD DOG
In a touching Instagram post, owner Shirley Braha announced that Marnie passed away peacefully on Thursday at the age of 18. “Her comfort had declined significantly over the past few days with little hope of improvement and she let me know she had had enough,” Braha wrote on Saturday. “She enjoyed her chicken until the very end.” Marnie had racked up all of the following, with 1.8 million Instagram followers. The news of his death has sparked mourning from many, including other influencer animal accounts.
Shirley posted a long moving message on instagrm: It is with great sorrow that I share the news that Marnie passed away painlessly and peacefully at my home on Thursday afternoon at the age of 18. Her comfort had decreased significantly over the past few days with little hope for improvement and she let me know that she had had enough. She enjoyed her chicken until the very end. Thank you for joining me on an unexpected journey with the ultimate love of my life. All I can feel right now is loss, but underneath I have so much gratitude. I am grateful to the universe for entrusting me with its beautiful soul and providing me with the perfect best friend and companion. I’m grateful to to have been able to give this magical creature the fun and deeply loving life she wanted and deserved. I am grateful to have been chosen to be Marnie’s channel to bring joy into the world. And I’m grateful for all the human and dog friends Marnie and I have made along the way, and for the strangers on the streets and on the internet, who have shown us so much love.
Above all, I’m amazed that the sweet little warm mess of a pup I picked up from a shelter at the age of 11, who at first didn’t seem to be there very long at all, managed to inspire others . adopt senior dogs. When I hear people say that Marnie got them to adopt their senior dogs, it really is the greatest legacy she and I could hope to leave in this world. The night she died, I had a dream where I watched her wake up from her death like it hadn’t happened at all, and she was running around to a completely happy, invincible party. She approached a descending staircase and I wanted to intervene to protect her from falling, but she came down the stairs and landed on her feet and stopped and slammed me. looked and laughed and carried on. It may have been a message from heaven from her, but at the very least, I can take comfort in knowing that for a long time, before her aging body took its toll, heaven for her was here on earth.
Marnie will be buried in a pet cemetery in Los Angeles and hopefully there will be a public memorial gathering whenever it’s safe (due to the coronavirus).
