She became popular around the world as attorney Christine Sullivan in the sitcom “Court Duty.” Markie Post passed away on August 7, 2021, in Los Angeles, at the age of 70, after nearly four years battling cancer.

Born in Palo Alto (California), on November 4, 1950, Marjorie Armstrong Post –her full name– was the daughter of scientist Richard F. Post and poet Marylee Armstrong Post. After appearing on various television shows and working in production companies, Markie Post made her acting debut in a chapter of the 1979  Barnaby Jones series.

Later, Markie Post appeared in such popular series as The Greatest American Hero and The A-Team . She also played the best friend of the waitress, played by Shelley Long , in Cheers . She joined the Guard Court in the third season. She later starred with John Ritter in the comedy series Al senador, ni caso , where they gave life to two politicians who fall in love. 

He debuted on the big screen with Gangster War , from 1981. Although he did not do much in the cinema,  Markie Post also gave life to Cameron Diaz ‘s mother , in There’s Something About Mary .

In 1972, Markie Post  divorced Stephen Knox. Later,  Ella Markie Post was paired with actor and screenwriter Michael A. Ross, with whom she had two daughters. “For us, the greatest pride is what she was apart from her work as an actress: a person who baked elaborate cakes for friends, who sewed curtains for the first apartments and who taught us how to be kind, loving and forgiving in an increasingly harsh world,” recalled their relatives in a statement.
