Mark Ruffalo
He is one of those whose face began to sound, later his name was not strange, and now he works to unite both in a single and recognizable person.
Mark Ruffalo is not one of those youngsters who arrive in Hollywood through the front door, without knowing any effort. Of those whose name and face seem to appear in advance in the collective memory because everyone knows them, even if they have not seen any of their films. He is now beginning to learn about the rigors of fame, although he is still by no means an extremely popular character. Now is when a name begins to be linked to a face, when he begins to be known at a popular level, which means that many viewers may fall into the cliché of referring to him as “this new boy”. Big mistake, because Mark Ruffalo is 40 years old, but he has been in the acting world since he was 19. He is a clear example that things are achieved step by step, little by little.
He was born on November 22 in Wisconsin. Thanks to his family’s somewhat nomadic ways, he lived in Virginia, San Diego and Los Angeles, where he enrolled at the Stella Adler Conservatory. His interest in acting was such that he co-founded the Orpheus theater company. Thanks to her he became an actor, stagehand, writer, director, producer, decorator, lighting artist, etc. The company garnered some success, though Ruffalo had to wait a few years to get a chance to play it on television and especially in movies. His first works on celluloid, from 1992, were in minor titles as secondary. In 1996 he ventured as a screenwriter – a task he has not repeated – on the gangster film The Destiny of Marty Fine .. The next step led him to films that were not particularly recognized, but in which he had the opportunity to work with good actors, such as Paul Giamatti in Two Clumsy in Troubles (1998), or Ryan Phillippe and Salma Hayek in Estudio 54 (1998). A new stepping stone added a good director to a good cast: he was a supporting role in Ang Lee ‘s Ride with the Devil (1999), with Tobey Maguire and Jim Caviezel as co-stars. The next level led to his first starring role in You Can Count On Me (2000), where he was Laura Linney ‘s brother.. He also allowed himself the luxury of being Robert Redford ‘s prison partner in The Last Fortress (2001). At this point, Mark was met with an unpleasant landing on the stairs. He had to stop his march because he was diagnosed with a brain tumor that led to facial paralysis. By then, his ladder had led him to Signs , by M. Night Shyamalan , but illness meant that he was replaced by Joaquin Phoenix .
This stop helped Mark to resume his career with more impetus. Once recovered, he soon returned to work, knowing more clearly than ever that what he really wanted to do was act. His return was to star in and be a key part of the love triangle of XX/XY (2002). From there he began to spin several interesting supporting roles that were making a hole in the viewer’s retina. He participated in the war Windtalkers (2002) together with Nicolas Cage , under the baton of John Woo ; Isabel Coixet chose him to be Sarah Polley ‘s lover in My Life Without Me (2003); he lived a real madness with Jim Carreyin Forget me! (2004), by Michel Gondry (2004); and was part of the typical Hollywood blockbuster, Collateral (2004), with Tom Cruise as a partner in fatigues and Michael Mann as director.
Most recently, he’s hit the billboards with Zodiac , where he goes to extremes to find a serial killer, enlisting the help of Jake Gyllenhaal and filmmaker David Fincher . And his march continues, leaving no time for the public to forget about him. He is now back in the movies with A Crossroads in Destiny , along with Joaquin Phoenix and Jennifer Connelly . In this title, Ruffalo plays an interesting character who lives prey to remorse after running over a child and running away. Pending release, he also has the drama Margaret , in which he has worked with Matt Damon. And as if this were not enough, he has just shot The Brothers Bloom , along with Rachel Weisz and Adrien Brody , and Blindness , where he has been the husband of Julianne Moore .
If the rules of probability don’t fail, it’s easy to gamble Mark’s future. Since his beginnings, he has never stopped in his evolution, in his growth, which makes us think that he has a ladder to climb for a while. A path that he will carry out with the support of his wife, the also actress Sunrise Coigney, whom he married in 2000, and his three small children. Only time will tell when the constant Mark Ruffalo peaks.
