Although he devoted himself more to the theater, he appeared in feature films such as “Crocodile Dundee” and played Mr. Mooney, the owner of the bookstore in the series “You”. Veteran actor Mark Blum passed away on March 26, 2020, at the age of 69, at New York Presbyterian Hospital, from complications after contracting the novel coronavirus. This was confirmed by acting teacher Janet Zarish, his wife.

Born May 14, 1950, in Newark, New Jersey, into a Jewish family, Mark Blum graduated from Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey. In the 1970s he began appearing on stage in productions of plays like “The Merchant” and “Lost in Yonkers” on Broadway.

On the big screen, he played a newspaper editor, who rivals the lead for the heart of a journalist in the Australian comedy  Crocodile Dundee . He was also the husband of Rosana Arquette’s character in Desperately Seeking Susan , which starred Madonna . On television he is remembered as Union Bob, a piccolo player, in the  Mozart in the Jungle series . He was married for fifteen years to the aforementioned Zarish, with whom he had no children.
