- Götze won the Bundesliga trophy in 2010-2011 as a member of Borussia Dortmund.
- Mario started his career in the youth categories at SC Ronsberg, FC Eintracht Hombruch and Borussia Dortmund, from where he was later accepted into the senior national team.
- On March 27, 2012, Götze extended his contract with Borussia, which kept him at the club until 2016. The deal included a release clause if a club paid the transfer fee of at least €37m.
- Götze won the 2012 DFB Cup with Borussia Dortmund after beating Bayern Munich in the final.
