French actress Marie-France Pisier died on April 24, 2011, at the age of 66, at her residence in Saint Cyr sur Mer, the town on the Côte d’Azur where she lived. Her husband found her lifeless body near the pool and although her acquaintances assure that she did not suffer from symptoms of depression, the suicide hypothesis is not ruled out. In addition to being an actress, she was a screenwriter and director.

Born on May 10, 1944 in Dalat, which then belonged to the former French Indochina, now Vietnam, Marie-France Pisier was discovered at the age of 17 by François Truffaut , who was looking for a talented young woman for his short Antoine et Colette , which it was part of the collective feature film El amor a los twenty años . Pisier played Colette, a young woman who seduced Antoine Doinel, the protagonist of The Four Hundred Blows , whom she met at a concert.

He repeated the orders of Truffaut in Stolen Kisses , and in Love on the Run . In both she returned to Colette, the same character. She was also the muse of Luis Buñuel ( El fantasma de la libertad ) and Jacques Rivette ( Julie and Céline go by boat ).

He was also a leading figure in the riots of May 1968, along with his partner, Daniel Cohn-Bendit, leader of the student movement. In cinema, her collaborations with André Téchiné stand out , with whom she shot Memories of our France , The Brontë sisters and Barocco , for which she won the César for best actress. For Cousin, cousine , by Jean Charles Tacchella she also obtained another Cesar, as a secondary.

She had the opportunity to debut as a director in 1990 with Le bal du gouverneur , a drama also written by her, and starring Kristin Scott Thomas . She was followed by Comme un avion , from 2002. Ella Pisier continued to be active until 2010 when she shot the feature film Il reste du jambon? and the series Le chasseur .
