A host of coincidences has meant that Mariam Bachir ends up being one of the best-known faces on the Spanish film scene. The beauty and naturalness of it shown in El Niño have remained in the retina of the spectators.
Mariam Bachir is a Saharawi and comes from those hot and desert areas of Africa, specifically from the Tindouf refugee camp (Algeria), but she grew up in the Spanish town of Calahorra with a foster family. In this municipality of La Rioja he was able to finish his ESO and high school studies and later went to study in Barcelona.
It was in Barcelona where his life was going to turn 180 degrees. To get some money, she left some photos at an agency and they called her for a casting. Apparently they were looking for a girl for a movie, but she must not be a professional actress. She went without knowing what it was about. She was tested for El Niño and that’s where it all started.
Mariam Bachir is currently studying Arabic and dreams of being a translator, although she will surely have roles for the cinema.
