Marcus Canty is an American singer, songwriter, dancer and actor, best known as a contestant on the first season of reality TV singing competition The X Factor USA in 2011, placing 4th. For his debut, he sang I Wish by Stevie Wonder and was later mentored by LA Reid, a noted record producer and judge on the show. On the final night, in week eight of the competition, Marcus performed songs I’ll Sleep With You by Boyz II Men and Spontaneous Whispers by George Michael, but was eliminated by public vote.

He and 2 other contestants were released by the Epic Records label on January 18, 2012. On March 7, 2012, Marcus released his debut single, Don’t Be Fooled , which charted at number 98 on the Billboard R&B that year. Marcus’ debut EP, titled Das… ist Marcus Canty , was released on March 5, 2013 and peaked at number 114 on the Billboard US 200 Chart. Marcus Canty has attracted the attention of more than 100,000 followers on Twitter and more than 30,000 followers on Instagram.
