In April 2010, Marcos Alonso made his professional debut with Real Madrid in a La Liga away game against Racing de Santander. He was brought on as a substitute for Gonzalo Higuain in the 90th minute after his side’s 2-0 win.
In August 2013 he made his first professional appearance for ACF Fiorentina in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League qualifying round against Swiss, Grasshoppers.

- In 1982, his father Marcos Alonso Peña became the most expensive Spanish first division club after FC Barcelona paid Atlético Madrid 150 million pesetas to purchase his services.
- Although he was always destined to be a football player, it wasn’t until he was eleven that he really focused on the game.
- While at Real Madrid’s youth academy, he played alongside Manchester United playmaker Juan Mata.
- Having great chances at Real Madrid, he agreed to a move to the Premier League. Bolton Wanderers in July 2010.
- In recognition of his strong performances during the 2012–13 season, he was voted The Bolton News’ Player of the Year as he received 37% of the vote.
