Manuel Gallardo

Manuel Gallardo died at the age of 85 in Madrid, on August 21, 2021, according to the Union of Actors and Actresses. Throughout his extensive career, he earned enormous prestige, especially on the stage, but he also shot more than forty feature films and several television series.

Born in Cardeña, Córdoba, on May 3, 1935, Manuel Gallardo Lechet was the grandson of fellow actor Isidro Leché, and son of actress Mery Leiva. At 15 days old he appeared on stage for the first time, in the arms of his mother. At the age of twenty he began his professional career, and he established himself in the theater, touring all of Spain with different companies, he toured all of Spain.

Manuel Gallardo made his film debut with great fortune as the protagonist of  Tierra de todos , by Antonio Isasi-Isasmendi , where he played Juan, a Republican soldier facing another from the national side. After being isolated due to the flooding of the river, both must associate to survive, and they end up having conciliatory conversations. Titles such as  Soraya, Queen of the Desert ,  The Hundred Knights ,  The Last Mrs. Anderson  or  The Brute, the Clever and the Captain followed . 

Married to the also actress María Jesús Lara, the couple had a daughter, Nuria Gallardo , who is also dedicated to the profession.

Since the mid-sixties, Manuel Gallardo has become a frequent presence on television, with dozens of televised theater pieces, on the popular  Estudio 1 program . He also took part in one of the series with the greatest impact in the history of Spain, Verano Azul , where he gave life to Javier, Javi’s father ( Juanjo Artero ), an authoritarian man who only seemed to care about his business.
