Japan national soccer team captain Makoto Hasebe made his professional debut in 2002 playing for Urawa Red Diamonds and made his first international appearance for Japan in 2006. As of 2018, he plays as a defensive midfielder for Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt . So far, he has made over 380 club appearances scoring 19 goals. He was awarded the J.League Cup New Hero Award while playing for Urawa Red Diamonds, in 2004. He led the Japanese team at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Russia.
