The 6-year-old boy ran away from his father into the woods. Due to Ian Ritch’s medical condition, he was unable to run fast and catch up with his son. After searching for so long, Ian Ritch called 911 for help.
Unfortunately, the search team of 15 found the dead body of a 6-year-old boy (believed to be Maddox Ritch). It was found in a creek approximately 1 mile east of Rankin Lake Park. Robert Helton (Gastonia Police Chief) has also confirmed this sad news of his death at a press conference.
