Fans of “Sex and the City” will remember Magda, the Ukrainian nanny who helped Miranda. Lynn Cohen, actress who brought the character to life, passed away at the age of 86, on February 14, 2020. “Talent, grace, inspiration. Rest in peace,” declared Sarah Jessica Parker, star of the HBO series.

Born on August 10, 1933 in Kansas, Missouri, Lynn Harriette Kay –her birth name– Cohen began working on the Off-Broadway circuit stage in the 1970s. Her first prominent on-screen role was Woody Allen ‘s Neighbor and Diane Keaton , who is suspected of being murdered by her husband, in Manhattan Murder Mystery . She later became one of the most memorable secondaries of the aforementioned Sex and the City , to the point that she repeated it in the two film installments. Steven Spielberg recruited her to play Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir in Munich .

Lynn Cohen was also judge Elizabeth Mizener on Law & Order , and Mags, the oldest tournament victor, on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire . “I did that role because my granddaughter was crying after reading the book. She told me that she had to play Mags, but I told her that they would have cast someone already. She searched the internet herself and I don’t know how she did it, but she found out that they didn’t have anyone yet, so I called my agent”.

After the untimely death of her husband, Gilbert L. Frazen, in 1960, with whom she had her only child, Lynn Cohen remarried Ronald T. Cohen, who has accompanied her until her death.
