In 1989, the Rodríguez family moved to Florida, USA, and Luis was enrolled as a Ph.D. Philips High School in Orlando.

1. Puerto Rican singer (2001–2002) – Local tabloids in Florida andPuerto Rico speculated that Luis was having an affair with a very famous married Puerto Rican singer who eventually left her husband to buy a property near Luis’ residence in Orlando. Discussion of the scandal died down in late 2002.

Adamari López Torres (2003–2010) – A Puerto Rican telenovela/soap opera actress, Adamari met Luis in 2003 because they wanted to work for the same network. Univision. They announced their love for each other in 2004, Luis embarked on an international tour. However, he canceled his tour in mid-2005 when his girlfriend was diagnosed with breast cancer. Luis was determined to support her during this difficult time. Traveling frequently with his girlfriend, he has lived in Mexico, Miami and Puerto Rico for Adamari’s cancer treatment while balancing his professional commitments. She has been in remission since 2006. That same year, in June 2006, the couple married in a lavish religious ceremony in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, attended by several celebrities, including Joey Fatone, Charytín Goyco, Ednita Nazario, and Carlos Ponce, to name a few. Their marriage didn’t last long happily as they officially divorced in November 2010.

Águeda López (2011 – Present) – Luis moved quickly after the breakup of his first marriage and found love with Spanish model Águeda. In December 2011, she gave birth to his first child, a daughter named Mikaela. In 2013, Luis’ ex-wife published a full-length memoir alleging that Luis cheated on her with Águeda. This disappointed many fans and sparked an angry backlash against the singer. After living together for three years, Luis took Águeda to Paris and proposed. The couple wed in an intimate ceremony at a vineyard in California’s Napa Valley. In December 2016, Águeda had her second child with Luis, a son named Rocco.

1. Before his family moved to Florida, Luis was a member of the San Juan Children’s Choir. Personally, he was heavily influenced by the style of the Latino boy band Menudo and often imitated them.
