Lorenzo Valverde died on February 16, 2021, at the age of 91, in a Madrid hospital, hours after being admitted for respiratory failure due to pneumonia. A myth of Spanish musical theater, he occasionally participated in series and feature films. “Today is a very sad day  the great actor and a great person has left us,” says Yolanda Rubio, his representative. “He was always the first to arrive at the theater and the last to leave. Born in 1929,  Lorenzo Valverde began his journey as a singer starting in the early 1960s, with records released with the group Los Trovadores and with popular hits of the time such as ‘Ten piedad’ or ‘La luna tiene dos caras’. In 1963 he participates in the Benidorm Festival, where he came in second place.

In 1977, Lorenzo Valverde became the protagonist of the Madrid version of “El diluvio que viene”, by Pietro Garinei and Sandro Giovannini, where he played Father Silvestre, a Catholic priest from a small mountain town who was notified by God by phone. that he has decided to start a second Universal Flood for the sins of humanity, and that he must build an ark. He remained on the bill with absolute sellouts until 1980, which was an unprecedented success for musicals in Spain. 

Throughout his career, the interpreter lavished himself mainly on the theater, in productions such as “La truhana”, “Golfus de Roma”, “Beauty and the Beast” or “Follies”. But he occasionally appeared on television series such as Second Teaching, Like Pedro at home, Encantada de la vida and Centro médico . In addition, Cruz Delgado recruited him to sing one of the musical themes for the television production Don Quixote de La Mancha . In cinema, he had brief roles in La noche de la ira , ¡Ja me mataten…! and Horror at the Wax Museum .

Married to Ángeles Martín, with her he had two daughters, Loreto and Marta Valverde, who have followed in his footsteps in the world of entertainment, especially on television programs.
