List of Institutions in Kwara State

There are four private institutions in Kwara State, as well as one federal university and one state university. Kwara State has a population of about 2.37 million people in 2006. Kwara is a Nigerian state located in the southwest.

Ilorin is the state capital, and there is a Navy School and an Aviation College in the state.

1. University of Ilorin

University of Ilorin (Unilorin) is the only federal university in Kwara State. It was established in 1975 by a decree of the Federal Military Government. It is located in Ilorin, the state’s capital

2. Al-Hikmah University

Al-Hikmah University was established as an Islamic university in Ilorin, Kwara State in 2005 by AbdulRaheem Oladimeji Islamic Foundation AROIF based in Nigeria and World Assembly of Muslim Youths WAMY based in Jeddah.

3. Kwara State University

Kwara State University is located in Malete, Ilorin. It is the 77th university to be registered by the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) in the country.

4. Summit University

Summit University is located in Offa, Kwara State, it is one of the private universitiies in the state, and it is recognized by NUC in Nigeria

8. Landmark University

Landmark University, owned by Living Faith Church Worldwide is a Private Christian University situated in Omu-Aran, Kwara State. According to Webometrics, Landmark University was listed as the top five universities in Nigeria

9. Imam Hamzat College of Education

This is a private college of education that was created to solve the challenges of education in Nigeria.

10. Kwara State College of Education

Established in 1974 by Kwara State Government, and the institution has its motto as “Education for Excellence”. It is located in Ilorin, Kwara State.

11. Muhyideen College of Education

This College of Education was established in order to develop courses for the training of teachers so as to promote research and improve knowledge among teachers in the state.

It started in 2005 through edict 21 that was issued by the Muhyideen Association of Nigeria.

12.  Thomas Adewumi University

13. Federal Polytechnic Offa

Federal Polytechnic, Offa is located in Offa, Kwara State. It was established during the administration of Ibrahim Babangida in 1992. It offers both OND and HND courses.
