Chappell has starred in many roles in New Zealand including Gloss, Shortland Street, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys as well as City Life. From 2000, Chappell played Claire McLeod in the Australian show McLeod’s Daughters. For this portrayal, she won the Logie Award for Most Popular Actress and was nominated for a Silver Logie in 2003. She left the show in 2003 when her character was killed in a car accident.

Chappell became an ambassador for the Humor Foundation in March 2004. She wanted to help raise funds to keep the Clown Doctors in Australian hospitals. She also wrote a children’s book, which she collaborated with her then-husband, Chris, and which was illustrated by Chris.

Hercules: The Legendary Journeys is an American television series filmed in New Zealand, based on the tales of classic Greek culture hero Heracles (Hercules was his Roman analogue). It was produced from January 16, 1995 to November 22, 1999.
It ran for six seasons, producing action figures and other memorabilia, becoming one of the highest-rated syndicated television shows in the world at that time.
It was preceded by several TV movies with the same major characters in 1994 as part of Universal Television’s action pack in order of appearance: Hercules and the Amazon Women, Hercules and the Lost Kingdom, Hercules and the Circle of Fire , Hercules in the Underworld, and Hercules in the Minotaur’s Labyrinth, the latter of which served primarily as a “clip show” from the earlier films as a build-up to the series.
The show was canceled halfway through filming the sixth season and only eight episodes in total were produced after Kevin Sorbo initially refused to renew a three-year contract extension to continue his role as Hercules.

In the summer it could be up to 50 degrees outside and the winters were very cold. I was in the elements all day but couldn’t wait to get home, practice my guitar and write songs. ‘ She was influenced in her songwriting by artists like Bob Dylan and Neil Young and two albums in particular: O by Damien Rice and Essence by Lucinda Williams.
