Biography
Lexa Doig was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on June 8, 1973. Her mother is Gloria B. Lecciones, a registered nurse from Dumaguete City, Philippines, and her father is David W. Doig, a Canadian engineer of Scottish and Irish ancestry who was a petroleum executive officer in Toronto.
At a young age, Lexa Doig studied rhythmic gymnastics and studied American Sign Language as a teenager. After picking an interest in acting, she was inspired by a theatre production she watched, Porgy and Bess to become an actor at the age of 9.

Modelling Career
While studying at Don Mills Collegiate Institute, she enrolled in a vocational modelling program. At the age of 16, she was offered representation by a talent agent and booked on various modelling projects. Afterwards, she made the decision to drop out of high school to pursue an acting career.
Due to media exposure, she served as the co-host of the Canadian game show Video & Arcade Top 10 (1991-2006). While auditioning for TV and film roles, she also worked on theatre productions of Romeo and Juliet and Arsenic and Old Lace.

Acting Career
Lexa Doig had her first tv role as Second Girl in The Hidden Room (1993). In 1994, she reprised a role in the tv series, TekWar where she played the role of a Cowgirl. The following year, she had her first movie role in Jungleground. In 2000, she had her first big break starring role in No Alibi, and she got the title role in the Andromeda series from 2000 to 2005. There, she played the Andromeda Ascendant ship’s computer in three personas — as the ship’s powerful AI (artificial intelligence) on the ship’s screen, as the AI’s hologram, and as Rommie, the android avatar of the AI.
In 2001, Lexa Doig played the female lead role of Dr Rowan LaFontaine in the horror film, Jason X which is the tenth instalment of the Friday the 13th film series. From 2005-2007, she reprised the Dr Carolyn Lann role and appeared in 11 episodes of the 9th and 10th seasons of Stargate SG-1 2005-2007. In 2010, she appeared in six episodes in the remake of V, playing the alien physician, Dr Leah Pearlman. Two years later, she began playing the role of Liber8 terrorist, Sonya Valentine in the Canadian science fiction, Continuum series.

Personal Life
After meeting on the Andromeda set where Lexa Doig starred and Michael Shanks guest-starred in the 2001 episode Star Crossed, they began dating. Later on, they exchanged vows on August 2, 2003, and later collaborated on the same TV show’s 2003 episode “Day of Judgment, Day of Wrath.” In the last two seasons of Stargate SG-1, the pair shared a cast. Together, Lexa Doig and Michael Shanks acted as an LAPD SWAT cop and a Russian crime boss in the 2011 action thriller Tactical Force. Thereafter, they produced the Netflix original series Virgin River (2019). Along with the child Michael Shank has from his previous relationship, the couple also has a son and a daughter.
