It is clear that his career has only just begun. He is a boy, and Jota Bayona has given him the leading role in a film about personal growth, “A monster comes to see me”, which could also be the occasion for a child adventure, acting as a child for the big screen, to go further. Time will tell, the important thing is that like his character Conor of him, he knows how to face his fears, without being devoured by the tinsel of fame.

He saw the light of the world in 2002, and soon he got his act together, as he went to train in acting early on at the Drama Studio in his native Edinburgh.

Until now, Lewis MacDougall’s career as a child actor was limited to a fleeting appearance as a lost child in a revisiting of Peter Pan, based on JM Barrie ‘s work , Pan: Journey to Neverland , but as is known, this free version of Joe Wright did not achieve the desired success. On the other hand, the presence of MacDougall was minimal, he was not Pan, although at least it helped him to familiarize himself with the atmosphere of filming a blockbuster. In addition, he kept his feet on the ground, as he studied at the same time, going almost seamlessly from a fantastic scene to a math class.

The Spanish Juan Antonio Bayona , who had already shot with children and adolescents in The Orphanage and The Impossible , knew that he needed someone very special to star in A Monster Comes to See Me . The boy protagonist of the story, Conor, was carrying great inner suffering, he was not coping well with his mother’s illness, and his sensitive temperament was manifested in his great imagination and the use of drawing.

As Bayona explains, ” We saw hundreds of kids for that role, but when we met him we knew instantly that he was Conor: his mystery, his gaze, his mixture of sweetness and toughness. He’s an immense actor, I have no words to describe what he does in A Monster Comes to See Me .”  Indeed, the kid does very well with his mother and grandmother in fiction, Felicity Jones and Sigourney Weaver respectively, and also with that hunk of monster, never better said, that is Liam Neeson , a kind of digitally created Treebeard. based on the actor and cartoonist Jim Kay’s designs.

In his next film, Boundaries , he will have less of a presence, but again he will learn from the greats, as the actors include Vera Farmiga and Christopher Plummer , no less.
