- At the age of 4, Leo saw an older friend training in martial arts in his mother’s womb and insisted he wanted to join him. The dojo made an exception to accept a four-year-old as a student.
- He was part of an extreme martial arts group called Sideswipe, led by Matt Mullins, and performed choreographed fight routines for the show.
- Once he started studying extreme martial arts. When he was 7 years old, he realized that he would rather perform for entertainment than to compete, so he retired from participating in martial arts tournaments at the age of 9.
- When he received a callback promoting his role as Jack in Kickin’ It , he appeared on a sideswipe show being filmed by a local news station.
