Many movie fans will remember the famous scene in which the mother of one of those killed by the shark slapped the sheriff for having allowed the beaches to open, despite the threat. The actress who played her character, Lee Fierro, died a victim of COVID-19, in April 2020, at the age of 91, at her residence in Ohio.

Born on February 13, 1929 in the United States, Lee Fierro devoted her entire life to the theater at the Island Theater Workshop, a small company from the place where she lived, the island of Martha’s Vineyard, which served as the location for the filming of the movie  Jaws  (1975), by Steven Spielberg .

King Midas gave her a small role in the film, Mrs. Kintner, mother of young Alex Kintner, played by Jeffrey Voorhees, second victim of the white shark that frightened the population in the famous film. During the boy’s funeral, the woman was confronting Martin Brody, police chief played by Roy Scheider . “You knew there was a shark on the loose, you knew it was dangerous and you let people bathe,” he reproached her. “My son is dead. I wanted him to know.”

Years later, he would appear briefly, repeating as the character, in Jaws, revenge , the fourth installment of the saga.

Many years later, Lee Fierro walked into a seafood restaurant and noticed an “Alex Kintner Sandwich” on the menu. She told the waiter that she had played the mother of a character named that way back in the day. The restaurant owner ran out to meet her, none other than Jeffrey Voorhees, who had played her son. They had not seen each other since filming.
