Laurence Fishburne

Fisbhurne’s artistic life began with an unforgettable anecdote. After several appearances in television productions, the 14-year-old actor wanted to shine on the big screen at all costs. The opportunity presented itself with Francis Ford Coppola ‘s Apocalypse Now , but he was too young to work there. “What nonsense” he must have thought, because Laurence lied about his age and it worked out: he played the young sailor Mr. Clean in one of the best war movies ever.
With Coppola he collaborated again on two works prior to the decline of the Italian-American: Rumble Law and Cotton Club , although he would also be in Stone Gardens . Around this time he also worked with a Steven Spielberg in his late 40s on The Color Purple . When the 80s ended, he had already participated in a good number of films as a supporting actor. His face was becoming more and more familiar; he would soon get leading characters.
The following decade was presented as a promising time for the actor. In 1992 he starred in The Dirty Face of the Law , a thriller in which a policeman infiltrates a drug gang and is seduced by drugs. The following year he was the husband of Tina Turner in the biopic of the famous singer Tina . For this role he was nominated for an Oscar for best actor. Thanks to this film and the prestige he was gaining, Laurence had no trouble landing major roles in a handful of films. In 1997 he starred in Final Horizon , a successful science fiction film that blew up the box office in the United States. Perhaps this is why the Wachowski brothers thought of him for the role of Morpheus in The Matrix . The red pill was both a blessing and a torture for Fisburne. He became one of the best-known faces in Hollywood, admired by fans of science fiction. He had never been so successful before. But at what price… It was difficult to see him and not say “Look, it’s Morpheus!”
After the famous Laurence trilogy, he starred in some films such as Assault on the 13th district or Fingers, terrorist attack .
