Laura Rutledge The fact
- Both parents were college football fans, which contributed to their love of the sport. Although she didn’t do much sport when she was young, she loved watching sport on TV.
- She went to the University of Florida instead of Florida State University because she had a much better communications program as she wanted to be a sportswriter after high school.
- During her freshman year, she was hired as a radio jockey for the college campus’s main station, WRUF .
- Dick Enberg, a well-known sports broadcaster, was her mentor when she was new to the world of reporting at the age of 24. He passed away in late December 2017, and Laura sent him a heartfelt message, accompanied by a picture of the two together.
- She was interviewed by both Fox Sports and ESPN during her senior year, however, she was unable to intern.
- When she finally got an internship, she was disappointed to learn that instead of reporting or hosting, she would simply copy DVDs of sports shows.
- Laura had her first chance to appear on screen due to a completely random set of circumstances. One of the on-air presenters had a conflict with the broadcast unit and Laura was asked to step in. The people who were there recognized her potential and praised her performance.
- On July 30, 2018, she became a co-host of the TV show Get Up! that changed the format of the traditional morning show to feature multiple co-hosts and sports analysts for a much more entertaining format.
- On November 18, 2018, Laura suffered two mishaps at the UMass vs. Georgia Bulldogs college football game in Athens, Georgia, USA. First she was pulled by the bulldog mascot Uga X while holding the leash, a little later she was knocked out by two soccer players who attacked each other. Everything ended in good spirits, and she later joked about the incident on Twitter.
