Twitter Ban: We’re monitoring Twitter under new owner – Lai Mohammed

The microblogging platform, Twitter has reacted to Lai Mohammed comment said it has not reached any deal with the President Buhari regime for the unblocking of its services in Nigeria.

Recall that we earlier reported that the Federal Government via its Minister of Infomation and Culture, Lai Mohammed hinted on Wednesday that the two months ban on the social networking site, Twitter, in Nigeria will be lifted soon.

More so, on June 5, the FG announced the suspension of Twitter from Nigeria, citing activities that threaten the country’s supremacy and corporate existence.

The ban came a day after Twitter deleted President Muhammadu Buhari’s tweet threatening to deal with Igbo youths “in the language they understand”.

While speaking with newsmen on Wednesday, the microblogging platform said no deal had been agreed with the Nigerian government yet as talks were still ongoing.

“We recently met with the Nigerian government to discuss why Twitter has been blocked and ways to resolve the matter,” Twitter told The Gazette.

“Our aim is to chart a path forward to the restoration of Twitter for everyone in Nigeria.

However, Twitter said it is looking forward to ongoing discussions with the Nigerian government and seeing the service restored very soon.”
