Lagos, Nigeria – A 58-year-old man has died in Lagos State after embarking on a 19-day spiritual fast without food or water.
Lagos, Nigeria – A 58-year-old man has died in Lagos State after embarking on a 19-day spiritual fast without food or water.
According to the Lagos State Police Command, the incident occurred on Monday at approximately 6:00 a.m. in the Alagbado axis of the state.
The deceased’s younger brother reported the incident to the Alagbado Police Division at around 7:00 p.m. on Monday, stating that his brother had died while undergoing the prolonged fast.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Police Command, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday. He stated that no foul play is suspected and that the family has requested to take the corpse for burial.
The incident has raised concerns about the risks associated with prolonged fasting without proper medical supervision.
