A Twitter user identified as @art_of_Achalugo has earlier predicted the recent Twitter ban by the President Buhari administration in 2014.

It was earlier reported that the federal government said it has suspended, indefinitely, the operations of the microblogging and social networking service, Twitter, in Nigeria.

In a statement on Friday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced the suspension by his office in Abuja.

The statement, signed by Ministry spokesperson, Segun Adeyemi, cited the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.

According to the statement, the Minister said the Federal Government has also directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to immediately commence the process of licensing all OTT and social media operations in Nigeria.

The lady warning Nigerians against voting for the current president for the incoming election stated that if the president won the election, he most likely ban the social media giant, Twitter then DSTV all television channels except NTA, and will likely impose dress code and curfews.

Her words: Vote for Buhari. Let him make mistake and win. Twitter will go first. Then DSTV. Then all channels but NTA. Followed by dress code, curfew.

Recall that Twitter recently deleted some tweets of President Muhammadu Buhari for allegedly contravening its rules.

The government, through Alhaji Mohammed, expressed disappointment following the actions of Twitter.

The minister said the Federal Government has also directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to immediately commence the process of licensing all OTT and social media operations in Nigeria.
