A tragic incident occurred in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, where the lifeless body of a 57-year-old woman named Mrs. Jamiu Sikirat was recovered from a well. It happened on Monday evening when Mrs. Sikirat, a resident of the Adeta area, accidentally fell into the well at around 6:42 pm.
The Kwara State Fire Service received a distress call from a concerned resident named Mr. Muhammad Jamiu, who alerted them about the incident. The firemen promptly arrived at the scene and successfully retrieved the body from the well. They handed it over to a family member of the deceased, Alfa Abdulganiyu Akuko, in the presence of police officers from the Adewole Division in Ilorin.
According to reports, Mrs. Sikirat had gone to the well to fetch water when she unfortunately tripped and fell in. The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, expressed deep sadness regarding the incident. He also advised the public to be cautious in their daily activities and to avoid sending children to fetch water from wells.
This unfortunate event serves as a reminder for everyone to prioritize safety and take precautions in their daily routines.
