Kunle Adeyanju has had the internet on a stronghold, after embarking on a charity ride from London to Lagos on a Motorbike. He commenced the journey on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, and is expected to arrive in Lagos on Wednesday, the 25th of May 2022.
According to analysis, the long journey is expected to last for 25 days and cover 12,000km, passing across France, Spain, Gibraltar, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, St Louis, Senegal, Gambia, Mali, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, and Benin. But who is Kunle Adeyanju and why is he doing this?
Who is Kunle Adeyanju
Kunle Adeyanju is a Nigerian explorer with rich experiences in adventurous expenditures and exploration. He has reportedly visited over 70 countries and cycled from Lagos to Accra, skydived, bungee jumped and summited Mount Kilimanjaro (the tallest mountain in Africa) twice, and ran several marathon races.
He also wanted to enlist as a volunteer fighter for Ukraine in the war against Russia but changed his mind after the Ukrainian forces stalled the Russian invasion with support from over 20,000 volunteer foreign fighters.
Before this adventurous life, Kunle Adeyanju was just an average Nigerian finding his way to the top in the corporate world. He had his university education at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and began his career as a management trainee with British American Tobacco.
He worked as the head of marketing at Oando Gas and Power in 2004 and joined Shell Petroleum in 2006 as Fuels and Bitumen manager. After acquiring an MBA degree in 2009, Kunle Adeyanju decided to set up his own Venture Capital firm Pelicans DNO where he currently serves as the chief operating officer.
He is presently a doctoral student at the University of Arizona, USA, where he is aiming to bag his PhD Business Administration with a specialisation in social entrepreneurship.

What is the purpose of the “London to Lagos” Journey
Kunle Adeyanju has been Journeying from Lagos to London on a Honda CB 500X, a motorbike that cost around N5.1 Million, on top of the bike is a banner that contains the Nigerian Flag, an inscription that says “End Polio Now” and a logo of Rotary International, a non-governmental organization. What is his purpose?
Aside from being an adventurer, Kunle Adeyanju is a member of the Rotary International, a community-based organization that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world.
According to Ehi Braimah, the district secretary of Rotary International District 9110, Adeyanju is a crucial member of the organization, who will be assuming office as president of the Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro, from July 1, 2022 – to June 30, 2023.
The organization is one of the major non-governmental organizations contributing to the eradication of polio in the world. Revealing the purpose of his journey, Adeyanju said he intends to raise funds for charity, assuring that the money received from donations will be dedicated to primary healthcare, polio plus project, water and sanitation.
