Kogi PDP Suspends Dino Melaye for Alleged Anti-Party Activities
The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended former Senator Dino Melaye, a prominent figure from the state.
The PDP executive committee in Ayetoro Gbede, Ward 1, took this action after he refused to respond to a summon.
Melaye, a chieftain of the party, recently criticized the PDP’s leadership on X, blaming the internal crisis on the acting chairman, Umar Damagun, and others.
“End of the road for PDP as Damagun, Bature, and Anyanwu irredeemably destroyed the party. We will talk about the commercialization and privatization of PDP. PDP is now once upon a time,” Melaye posted.
The Ward executive committee cited misconduct and anti-party activities as reasons for his suspension. They decided during a meeting in Aiyetoro/Luagba Ward 1 on Friday, where they reviewed the disciplinary committee’s report on the allegations against him.
It was signed by the Ward Chairman, Abayomi Osamika, and Ward Yodson Dayo, Secretary.
The resolution made available to the public reads: “Senator Dino Melaye’s conduct has brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party and his continued membership is no longer tenable.
“Therefore, the Ward party exco hereby suspends Dino Melaye from the Peoples Democratic Party, effective and immediately.
“The suspension is in line with provisions of Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution which empowers the Ward party excos to take disciplinary actions against erring members.”
