KIRAN CHETRY: EARLY CHILDHOOD AND EDUCATION

Kiran Carrie Chetry was born on August 26, 1974 in Patan, Nepal. She was born to a Nepalese father Hom Chetry and a Ukrainian mother Nancy who was in Nepal as a Peace Corps volunteer. While she was born in Nepal, Chetry later emigrated to the United States with her parents when she was just 7 months old in search of a better life. After moving to the United States, Chetry spent most of his years in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Looking now at her academics, Kiran joined Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring. While in college, Chetry served on the swimming and prom team. Chetry then joined the University of Maryland, College of Journalism at College Park. She graduated from the institution with a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism.

KIRAN CHETRY: CAREER

Kiran then began her career in 1995 when she was hired by WICU-TV in Erie, Pennsylvania. After spending more than 5 years in the network, Chetry got the job at Fox News Channel. As an anchor and generalist reporter for Fox, Chetry enjoyed a successful 6-year stint.

Her career with Fox didn’t hit a climax when she decided to leave the network after a contract dispute in 2007. However, this incredible journalist was able to land a role on CNN as co-host of American Morning. She even continued to work alongside names like Anderson Cooper, Errol Barnett and Paula Zahn.

KIRAN CHETRY: PERSONAL LIFE

Now looking at the personal aspects of Kiran’s life, she is in a relationship with her WICU-TV co-host. While Kiran started out as a new reporter at the network, her partner Chris Knowles was working as a meteorologist. Knowles is an established name in the TV industry and is famous for their amazing weather reports.

As so often happens, the two fell in love with each other and this was due to Kiran and Chris working in close proximity to each other. They soon started dating and later decided to get married. Kiran also has two children with Chris but things weren’t going so well for this couple. Later, in 2013, after being together for a while, Chetry and Knowles went their separate ways.

Over the years, Kiran has been one of America’s top television reporters. It’s pretty safe to say she’s living the American Dream. Having worked with some of America’s biggest television giants, Chetry has a massive net worth of $1 million. Additionally, for her incredible work, she won the Pennsylvania Associated Press Broadcasters Association’s Best Corporate Reporting Award in 1997.
